Our Impact
The Difference We Make
Over the last two years, we have seen surges in membership and expansion into new regions. To learn more about who our members are and our impact, we conducted a survey. We were moved to see that our results directly correlate with our mission to retain, advance, and promote women in the maritime industry.

How We Make a Difference
Our Motto is simple: EDUCATE. ENGAGE. ELEVATE. We are committed to supporting women at every stage of their careers so they can excel and thrive in the maritime industry.
Across all chapters and seed chapters, WIMOs hosted 158 events in Fiscal Year 2025, designed to advance professional growth, connection, and industry engagement. These events fall into three core categories. Educational and Leadership programming accounted for 39% of all events and included webinars, Lunch & Learns, facility tours, sporting lessons, and business etiquette classes. Networking & Recruiting events made up 36%, featuring membership meetings, new member engagement activities, social gatherings, fitness activities, and creative workshops. The remaining 25% consisted of Philanthropic and Industry events, including conference participation, industry fundraisers, industry event, and community volunteering.

One way we strive to increase the recruitment and retention of women in maritime is through the WIMOs Mentoring Program. This program was founded in March 2023. All of the mentors are WIMOs members. However, protégés are women who are contemplating or starting a career in the maritime industry, which includes WIMOs and non-WIMOs members, female active military and veterans, and female college students
WIMOs Mentoring Program
My mentor continues to inspire me and impress me ... I have worked in this industry for more than thirty years, and have not had any female colleagues to discuss the challenges of working in a male-dominated field. Being around her energy gives me the push to do more in my own life. I look forward to our talks, as I know she will have many interesting and helpful words of wisdom. I am very grateful she is my mentor and hope to meet her in person one day

WIMOs Junior Chapters
The WIMOs Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) Junior Chapter successfully completed its first academic year in 2024–2025, hosting 20 events across the fall and spring semesters. Highlights included two Lunch & Learn sessions with Kirby Corporation and G&H Towing, where students participated in company tours and gained firsthand insight into marine logistics and vessel operations. The chapter also facilitated two major speaker events: a “Women in Maritime” networking evening and an informational session with representatives from the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), both offered valuable opportunities for career exploration, professional development, and industry connection.
Nearly 20 students joined the Junior Chapter in its inaugural year, with continued membership growth anticipated for 2025–2026. The officer team works closely with the WIMOs Houston Chapter and the WIMOs Executive Board to increase engagement and expand awareness of maritime career pathways across campus. Driven by WIMOs’ mission, the TAMUG Junior Chapter remains committed to building a supportive community, developing student leadership, and empowering the next generation of maritime professionals.
